Project: Coach House

Location: London, UK

Artist: Lottie Mac

Year: 2025

Designed for Balzar London and presented with Coach House for Decorex 2025, Lottie Mac was invited to re-design a Grand Piano lid.

Merging the contours of London, England and County Kerry, Ireland, this work embodies the movement of emotional landscapes and the ways heritage is carried between places. Carved from wood and dyed in rich emerald green, the design finds its form on the surface of a piano top, turning it into a meeting ground of memory, rhythm and place.

Lottie Mac

Lottie Mac is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice explores the fluidity of language - its power to articulate, obscure, and connect. Rooted in the socio-political evolution of the Irish language, her work navigates themes of cultural identity, memory, and heritage.

Working across tufting, sculpture, painting, carpentry, typography and design, Mac places strong emphasis on materiality and physical engagement. She often uses natural materials such as wool, wood, and steel, chosen for their durability, tactility, and connection to tradition and place.

Alongside abstract works, she creates functional sculptures and furniture that blur the line between art and design. These pieces reflect on domestic space as a site of memory and emotion, offering poetic and practical forms that invite reflection.
